Call for Submissions to Global Security and Intelligence Studies Special Issue
GLOBAL SECURITY AND INTELLIGENCE STUDIES JOURNAL SPECIAL ISSUE
Intelligence and Psychology, Emergence of the Psychological Domain
Subject: Call for Submissions to Global Security and Intelligence Studies Special Issue
Global Security and Intelligence Studies (GSIS) is currently accepting submissions for its upcoming special issue Intelligence and Psychology, Emergence of the Psychological Domain (anticipated Spring/Summer 2020). The nature and execution of warfare has seen significant change over the past several decades. Historically, populations were relatively protected from most forms of outside influence and warfare focused on attrition tactics. The asymmetric warfare and the emerging Cyber domain has given rise to new tactics and security concerns which challenge old paradigms of conflict. As a result terms such as the Human, Cognitive, and Psychological Domain has made their way into academia and operational publications with little unifying and no clarifying efforts. GSIS welcomes original empirical research, research notes, action notes from the field addressing contemporary global security and intelligence issues, policy relevant essays, and book reviews for the special issue. Recommended topics/ titles include, but are not limited to:
A Historical Review of Psychological Warfare and its Operational Application
The Implications of Advanced Technology on Psychological Warfare
The Use of Information as a Weapon in Modern Conflict
Where the Cyber Domain Ends and the Psychological Domain Begins
Psychology as a Modern Warfighting Domain
Ethics and Concerns of Psychological Warfare
Book reviews should focus on the title’s contribution to or discussion of a psychological domain. Potential titles include, but are not limited to:
“Likewar: The Weaponization of Social Media” by Emerson T. Brooking and P. W. Singer
“Propaganda and persuasion” by Garth Jowett
“Dark Territory: The Secret History of Cyber War” by Fred Kaplan
“Information Wars: How We Lost the Global Battle Against Disinformation…” by Richard Stengel
